Questions & Answers
You ask, NovoShield answers
Can we save expenses by reducing the thicknesses for our tanks?
+
Thickness is a critical factor in the long-term performance of epoxy linings. While it may be tempting to reduce coating thickness to save on material costs, this can compromise the integrity and service life of the lining system. NovoShield recommends following our specified thickness guidelines for each product and application to ensure maximum protection and longevity. Contact our technical team to discuss the optimal specification for your specific service conditions.
Can we make a coating between 6 to 8 mm thick?
+
Yes, several NovoShield products can be applied at thicknesses of 6-8 mm (approximately 240-320 mils) in a single application. Our trowel-applied systems such as NS-891 and NS-871 are specifically designed for high-build applications. The key is proper surface preparation and application technique. NovoShield provides detailed application guidelines and can provide on-site supervision for critical projects.
Is it possible to spray NovoShield Epoxies with a conventional sprayer?
+
Most NovoShield epoxies are high-solid, high-viscosity systems designed primarily for trowel or brush application. However, NovoShield has developed specialized spray-grade formulations and has experience with airless and plural-component spray equipment for certain products. Contact us to discuss spray application options for your specific project requirements.
What is the shelf life of NovoShield products?
+
NovoShield products have a shelf life of 12 to 24 months when stored properly in their original, unopened containers at temperatures between 60°F and 90°F (15°C to 32°C). Products should be stored in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight. Always check the batch date and expiration information on the product label before use.
